About this dataset

1. Product Overview

The Kazakh speech database comprises 1,275 hours of audio and 446,250 sentences. It has a sampling rate of 16,000 Hz and a bit depth of 16 bits. A total of 736 speakers were invited to record using their mobile phones in quiet environments. The recordings were transcribed and annotated by professional linguists and underwent rigorous quality assurance, achieving a text accuracy rate exceeding 95%.

2. Speech Data Transcription

Transcribers render the spoken content based on the audio they hear, striving to ensure that the written text accurately reflects the original pronunciation. General guidelines are as follows: 1) The transcription must match the spoken audio exactly—no extra words, missing words, or errors. 2) Numerals should be transcribed in English Latin form; for example, “бір екі үш” becomes “123,” not “one two three.” 3) English terms should be written in lowercase unless proper nouns require capitalization; phonetic spellings should use uppercase letters with spaces, such as “W W W dot Google dot com” or “C E O.” 4) Annotations must fully reflect the actual pronunciation without omissions.
